CZTs ~ presenting new stencils for use in your beginning Zendala classes!

The 12 piece class packs are intended for use by CZTs in a class setting to help students grasp the concept of working with zendalas by overcoming the angst of creating a string. Once students have a beginning knowledge of working with symmetry and balance within the zendala format, they’ll feel more comfortable moving up to the Zentangle® Zendala Set of more complex strings.

I’m excited to share these new KalaDala stencils with you and hope you’ll find it helpful in teaching beginning Zendala classes!

I wanted a better way to introduce students to this new tangling format, so with my graphic design background and the help of my Silhouette Cameo digital cutter, I developed…KalaDalas Stencils: 12 piece class packs, 5 piece sampler, Large Demo stencils, and a Collection of small and large stencils.

• Each portable and reusable 3.5 inch stencil fits a standard Zentangle tile and is cut from heavyweight card stock (colors will vary)
• Large Demo Stencil measure approximately 12 inches square is are available for use with your demo board. Sold separately.
• Samplers include one stencil of each of the 5 designs for fun and exploration
• The 5 + 5 Collection including all 5 Large Demo Stencils and a 5-piece Sampler

I will be fulfilling orders through Friday, May 18th, then will be in transit to Hawaii. As soon as I get internet service at my new location, I’ll resume production.  If you place an order after Friday, May 18th, you can expect a 3-4 week delay in delivery. Thank you for your patience!

For those who don’t know, my partner (Candance aka The Tiny Tangler) and I are relocating from Winston-Salem, NC to somewhere on the east side of the Big Island of Hawai’i by June 1st, 2012! It’s been a dream in the making for nearly two years and now it’s finally happening! Candance is in Hilo, HI this week securing housing for us and our two Schnauzers. I really have to sort through what’s left of my pack rat life and make the hard decisions to move, store, donate or trash my art supplies. This is no laughing matter!

I’ve been through this closet twice before, the inventory getting less and less each time, but this is the final cut! I know that most of my readers are creative people… people who understand the special relationship that exists between an artist and the tools of their craft… who appreciate WHY I can’t get rid of  the special paintbrush handmade from horsehair by a friend, or the swivel knife I so deftly wielded cutting amberlith back in the day… Each item has a story, a memory, a feeling. Those are the tough ones, and they’ll be coming along for the ride!

Last weekend I was privileged to attend a wine tasting at The Wet Whistle in Archdale and the unveiling of new labels for Yadkin Valley’s own River de Vine Vineyards! Sarah Wickstrom designed the logo as a Typography class project, and I created the digital illustration for the labels. We were giddy to finally see them printed and on the bottles! The illustration depicts the Yadkin River, the vineyard and the home place of Von and Susan Johnson of River de Vine. The knob of Pilot Mountain can be seen on the moonlit horizon. They are thrilled with the labels and we hope to see some of their wonderful North Carolina wine for sale in local restaurants and shops in the near future!

Do I buy wine for the label? I certainly do! There are so many varieties available, it’s sometimes the only reason I choose one bottle over another!

I was blessed to receive what can only begin to be described as a “Channelled Healing Tangle”.  Julie was able to create the most beautiful image that not only brought joy, but also healing to my mother and her injured aorta. Making the human aorta into a gorgeous piece of art seems impossible, but not in this case. Once Julie provided me with this pattern of love and healing, I was called to put colors to paper and contribute my piece of the puzzle. One late night between hospital visits led to an explosion of colors and sparkles that completed the energy circle. The final piece of art was gazed upon by many and clearly contributed to my mother’s rapid recovery. We are full of love and appreciation for this creative gift. Thank you Julie, my mother and I are excited to know that others will benefit from your “Healing Tangles”.
